Madeline M Belanger

Madeline M. (Theriault) Belanger, 99, of Ashford, widow of Homer A. Belanger, passed away Sunday March 3, 2002 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on Oct. 7, 1902 in Belliveau's Cove, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Valerie and Elizabeth Theriault. She immigrated to the U.S. and became a naturalized citizen. She and Homer bought a farm in Ashford in 1936 and summered there until moving permanently in 1945. Madeline was a seamstress by trade and many benefited from her skills. She was a communicant of St. Philip The Apostle Church in Ashford, and was very active in many of it's activities. She was also active in scouting and many town organizations including the Ashford Seniors. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Anne Marie and Rudolph Supina of Ashford, Sister Valeria Belanger of Brooklyn, N.Y., Joseph and Lee Belanger of Vermont and Texas, and Paul and Mary Belanger of Ashford, a nephew that she raised, Robert Belanger and his wife Betsy of Surfside, S.C., a niece that she raised , Carol Belanger and her husband Ernie Hinrichs of Crown Pt., IN., 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Madeline's family would like to thank the staff at the Mansfield Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation for the love and care they gave her during her say there. The Belanger family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11:00am St. Philip the Apostle Church, Rte 44, Ashford, with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Philip Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations to Madeline's favorite, the School Sisters of Notre Dame Development Fund, 345 Belden Hill Rd., Wilton, Ct. 06897-3898 or to St. Philip Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Rd., Ashford, Ct. 06278.
