Lydia Rudolph was a child of Brooklyn, NY, who never gave up her love of bagels and blackout cake. She expressed a creativity that was fearless and boundless. She was never afraid to explore new subjects, media, and materials, whether at home or in the community. Above all, Lydia was a compassionate parent, grandparent, spouse, and friend. She devoted more than three decades at Natchaug Hospital to caring for those struggling with addiction and mental illness, touching innumerable lives. Within her own family, she was an inexhaustible caregiver from the time of her children's' births to her own parents' elder years and her husband's 12-year battle with cancer. In the end, she faced her own illness with the courage and wisdom that she had always taught others. She leaves an amazing legacy of creativity, friendship, and love that we will remember always. In lieu of flowers, Lydia had requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Windham Regional Arts Council. A service will be held Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rt. 195), Willimantic, CT, at 12:00PM, followed by a gathering of family and friends at The Lily Pad, 34 North St., Willimantic, CT. Many thanks to Peter Polomski and Claudette Marshall at the Lily Pad for offering this space to us.
