In Loving Memory of Luz Nereida Sánchez

Luz Nereida Sánchez, lovingly known as Nereida, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 25, 1940, in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, to Cruz María Mangual and Juan González Ortiz. She was the devoted wife of the late Julio Manuel Sánchez, the great love of her life, with whom she now rests reunited.

Nereida was the heart and soul of her family - a true matriarch whose love knew no limits. She helped raise and nurture many family members, becoming a second mother to so many. Her home was always open, her smile always warm, and her table always filled with delicious food prepared with love. To know Nereida was to feel welcomed, cared for, and deeply loved. She gave endlessly of herself and was cherished by all who had the privilege of being part of her life.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Cruz (Victor Rodriguez), Wanda Cruz Sánchez Allen (David Allen) and Jeanette Ortiz (Steve Brinckhaus), who she loved as a daughter; and her sons, Julio Sánchez, Juan Sánchez (Laura Rodriguez), Julio E. Sánchez (Lillian Guzmán), and Luis Rivera, who she loved as a son; her beloved grandchildren (Sasha, Tanisha, Roberto, Kassiah, Tatiana, Kiana, Anaya, Davean, Jayvon and Xavion); and great-grandchildren (Josiah and Jaeliana); as well as her siblings, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Nereida’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to family.

She will be profoundly missed yet lovingly remembered. As she joins her beloved Julio, her spirit continues to watch over her family, guiding them with the same love and care she gave so freely in life.

En Amorosa Memoria de Luz Nereida Sánchez

Luz Nereida Sánchez, conocida cariñosamente como Nereida, partió en paz el 23 de diciembre de 2025, rodeada del amor de su familia. Nació el 25 de mayo de 1940 en Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, hija de Cruz María Mangual y Juan González Ortiz. Fue la amada esposa del fallecido Julio Manuel Sánchez, el gran amor de su vida, con quien hoy se encuentra reunida.

Nereida fue el corazón y pilar de su familia, una verdadera matriarca cuyo amor no conocía límites. Ayudó a criar y cuidar a muchos miembros de su familia, convirtiéndose en una segunda madre para tantos. Su hogar siempre estuvo abierto, su sonrisa siempre presente y su mesa siempre llena de comida deliciosa preparada con amor. Quienes la conocieron se sintieron siempre bienvenidos, cuidados y profundamente amados. Fue querida por muchos y dejó una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.

Le sobreviven sus hijas, Sandra Cruz (Víctor Rodriguez), Wanda Cruz Sánchez Allen (David Allen) y Jeanette Ortiz (Steve Brinckhaus), quien consideró como a una hija; sus hijos, Julio Sánchez, Juan Sánchez (Laura Rodriguez), Julio E. Sánchez (Lillian Guzmán) y Luis Rivera, quien consideró como a una hijo; sus queridos nietos (Sasha, Tanisha, Roberto, Kassiah, Tatiana, Kiana, Anaya, Davean, Jayvon y Xavion) y bisnietos (Josiah and Jaeliana); además de sus hermanos, sobrinos, sobrinas y entrañables amigos. El legado de Nereida vive en cada vida que tocó con su bondad, fortaleza y amor incondicional por su familia.

Será profundamente extrañada, pero siempre recordada con amor. Al reunirse con su amado Julio, su espíritu continúa velando por su familia, guiándolos con el mismo amor y dedicación que brindó durante toda su vida.
