Surrounded by his family Luis Diaz passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut on February 26, 2021 at the age of 74.
He was born on May 23, 1946 in Ponce, Puerto Rico & married to his wife of 58 years Ilia Diaz.
Luis grew up with a love for the outdoors and sports spending most of his time with his family and friends. Luis loved fishing and watching his favorite sport on TV which was boxing. He was a devoted husband and father and after many years living in Puerto Rico, Luis and wife Ilia made the decision to move to New York in hopes of a brighter future, after living many years in New York City he decided to move to Willimantic, CT where he would remain living for the rest of his years. Luis was a hard-working man. When arriving to Willimantic he started working for Mansfield Training School, until they closed in 1993. He then started working for Eastern Connecticut State University as a maintenance worker, after working for a year, he was transferred to work as the postmaster of Eastern Connecticut State University. After many years of hard work and dedication he retired.
Luis most favorite hobbies were reading western cowboys Spanish novels and watching his boxing matches. His latest and most recent hobbies he picked up were building legos and putting puzzles together he enjoyed keeping his mind occupied.
Luis will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 58 years Ilia; children, Luis Jr, Ricardo, Hector, Ana, Alberto; grandchildren Melvin, Valerie, Angel, Alexavier, Kivanny, Arieliz, Alberto Jr; great grandchildren; Adrian, Kamille, Larielys, Jonathan, Analise and numerous family and friends
What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us. ~HK
