Lucy Tilton of Coventry, Connecticut passed away March 11, 2013. She was born in Hartford on August 7, 1925 and grew up in East Hartford living with her parents, Marcus Hamilton and Lila Harvey Hamilton and her brother Melvin. Lucy graduated from East Hartford High School in 1944 and began working at Travelers Insurance Company. In 1945 she traveled with her brother and sister in law to Idaho to welcome home from the war her sister in law's brother, Vernon. It was love at first sight and after Lucy returned to Connecticut, Vernon and Lucy courted by mail. In 1946 Vernon came to Connecticut to marry Lucy. They returned to Idaho for two years before settling in Coventry, Connecticut for the rest of their lives. Lucy worked outside of the home all of her life at the American Screw Company, the Willimantic Chronicle and retiring from the University of Connecticut. She loved to bake and garden and go camping with her friends of the United Methodist Campers. She spent many happy times vacationing with her children and grandchildren in Maine. She is survived by her children, Marcus Tilton and Sharon Samuels and by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. There are no calling hours. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 29 Puddin Lane, Mansfield on Thursday March 14, 2013 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in New Coventry Cemetery.
