Lourdes (Lou) Serrano, 61, of Willimantic, CT, died suddenly on February 29, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. Born on August 29, 1954 in Villalba, Puerto Rico to the late Francisca Pagan and Luis Serrano, she grew up in Willimantic, Connecticut where she lived the majority of her life. She was employed for many years at General Cable where it became her home away from home. Lourdes was very passionate about, and dedicated to her job, and her co-workers were like family to her. She also worked part-time at Windham Hospital where she enjoyed working with friends. Lourdes had many friends of which she called family, and she enjoyed spending time with all of them. She also had a passion for spending time in her garden. She is pre-deceased by her daughter L. Johanna Maldonado, and brothers Angel Luis Serrano and Antonio Serrano. Lourdes is survived by her brother Hector Gonzalez and sister, Nilda Gonzalez, three grandchildren, Stefanie Doubleday, James Doubleday and Kiara Cruz, along with the apple of her eye, her great-granddaughter, Leilah Rodriguez Doubleday. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, 61 Club Road, Windham, CT 06280; a Committal Service will immediately follow at New Willimantic Cemetery.
