Louis F. Lafontaine, 88, of Chaplin, husband for 62 years to the late Alice (DeVillez) Lafontaine, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in Willimantic. He was born May 21, 1923 in Willimantic, the son of Omer and Eliza Lafontaine. Louis was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Prior to his retirement he was employed for over 50 years at Brand-Rex in Willimantic. He enjoyed flying model airplanes, farming and gardening, taking long walks, sharing war stories and having coffee with the guys. Most of all though, he loved his family. He is survived by three sons, Randy and his wife Cynthia of Windham, Rodney of Chaplin and Ronald and his wife Lorri of North Windham, three brothers, Joseph of El Paso, TX, Jean of Lebanon and Gerard of Boerne, TX, one sister, Claire Lafontaine of Coventry, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by two sons, Gerard and Richard. His Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 28th 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Cedar Swamp Rd. Hampton. Burial will be private in the South Cemetery, Hampton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
