Surrounded by family, Louis Kasacek (77) of Willington passed away on Sunday December 21, 2008 at Hartford Hospital. He was born on November 19, 1931 in Scotland, Connecticut. He leaves his wife of 50 years Emily (Sousa) Kasacek. He is survived by his brother Stanley Kasacek Jr. and his wife Helen of Somers, his sister-in law Catherine Kasacek of Willington, his son Wayne Kasacek and his wife Sarah of Norfork, his daughter Caroline Parent and her husband Norman of Willington, his nephew Richard Kasacek and his wife Ellen of Willington, and his close cousin Edward Kasacek of Florida. He also leaves his much loved five grandchildren Kristina, Jeffrey, and Jennifer Parent, and Stephen and Katherine Kasacek. He also leaves his very special great grandchildren Tyler and Kyle Parent-Cummings. He was pre-deceased by his father Stanislaus, mother Otilia (Drahokoupil) Kasacek, his sister Olga, and his brothers Richard and Freddie. Louis served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a life member of the VFW Post 1724. He was a carpenter and builder, and later went to work for the State of Connecticut at Mansfield Training School, from which he retired in 1988. Some of his hobbies were farming and building furniture. He enjoyed going to his summer home in Maine with his family especially his granddaughter Kristina and her friend Brian G. Cummings, and his son-in-law Norman. Louis enjoyed being by the Coast of Maine and would visit the Lighthouses. He also enjoyed the company of his friends at his summer home; Debbie and Frank Collemer and Leanne and Joe Robicheau. He will be missed by those who knew him and loved him. We would like to thank those that responded for the need of help, Windham and Hartford Hospital staff for making him comfortable in his need of care.
