Loretta Castagna

Loretta J. (Perrier) Castagna, 73, of Eastford, beloved wife of 49 years to Frank A. Castagna, Jr. passed away Friday, June 5, 2015. She was born October 19, 1941 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Rosati) Perrier. She spent her early years in Waterbury, before the family moved to Woodbury. Loretta received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut in 1964 and worked as a Dietician at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury before leaving to raise her sons. She later worked in the Bookkeeping and Trust Departments of Independent Bank & Trust in Willimantic. Loretta was a generous and thoughtful woman, who was devoted to her family and loved nothing more than being "Grandma C" to her grandchildren. She enjoyed vacations at her home in Cape Cod with her family and cherished these memories. She was an avid crafter and had a keen interest in researching her family's genealogy. She will be greatly missed by her husband, her sons, Frank, and his wife Paula, of Cheshire, and Anthony, and his wife Romina, of Greenwich, her grandchildren Emily and Dylan, her sister Rita Connelly of Woodbury and her loving niece, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will gather at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St, (Rte. 195) Willimantic, for visitation on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St, Willimantic, on Friday, June 12 at 11:00am, with interment immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham.
