Lola M. Burns, 81, of Willimantic died, Sunday October 19, 2003 in Willimantic. She was born May 9, 1922 in Fairhaven, MA, the daughter of Herbert and Grace (Ranson) Westgate and had lived in Willimantic since the late 1960?s. Prior to her retirement in 1984 she was employed at the former Mansfield State Training School for over 15 years and was a member of the Connecticut State Employees Association. Lola loved to knit and crochet, to read books and solve crossword puzzles. All who knew her will miss her greeting of ?I need a hug?. She is survived by 4 children, Bette A. Smith of North Dartmouth, MA, Pat Boyington of North Windham, Kathleen Mitchell of Canterbury and William J. Burns Jr. of Windsor, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
