Lois B. Potter

Lois B. Potter of Willimantic, wife of the late Russell F. Potter, Sr., passed away on December 31, 2015. She was born in Willimantic on March 18, 1918, the youngest child of Lewis S. and Eva M. Babcock. She was a graduate of Windham High School. In her long working life, she was a valued bookkeeper for a local car dealership, an oil company and a law firm. She retired in 2012. Lois is survived by her son, Russell F. Potter, Jr., a retired judge of the Superior Court and his wife Judith, her grandchildren Christopher Potter, Sara McGrath and Matthew Potter, along with six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her extended family and their families: Pamela Barrea, Jacque Collins, John Collins and Mark Miner. Lois is predeceased by her parents, her husband, brother Norman, sister Irene Merwin, daughter in law Janice L. Potter, and members of her extended family: Loretta Zahansky and Eric Miner. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Shelley Carling who, with her husband, Herb, provided such loving care in her later years. Lois was a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church of Willimantic, serving as a deacon for many years. She lived a long and productive life and gave so much of herself to her family and friends that her memory will live on for many years. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church of Willimantic, 199 Valley St., Willimantic, CT. A private committal service will be held.
