Lois Crane James

Lois C. Crane James, 95, of Willimantic, widow of Rexford Crane and Clinton James, died Thursday October 9, 2003 in Windham. She was born September 14, 1908 in Allston, MA, the daughter of Malcom and Kate (Wilson) Cole and had lived in Mansfield and Willimantic most of her life. She was employed as an administrative assistant at UConn for several years and then for many years prior to her retirement in the Dean of Women's office at the former Willimantic Teacher's College, now Eastern Connecticut State University. She was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of Willimantic, a member of the church bell choir and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Ralph Ahlberg of East Hampton, Phylliis and Russell Martin of Mansfield, 2 stepdaughters, Beverly Hamel of Storrs and Janet Landry and her husband Louis of Franklin, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Willimantic, 199 Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will be private in the Mansfield Center Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Kindly omit flowers.
