Lloyd S. Decker STORRS, CT ? Mr. Lloyd S. Decker, 73, of Storrs, slipped peacefully into the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ Saturday, August 10, 2002 after a long illness. Born May 11, 1929 in Waterbury, son of Seamen R. Decker and Ann Francis (Gilmartin) Decker, he attended Waterbury Schools and holds a BS in marketing from the University of Connecticut. He was a current member of the Westford Congregational Church in Ashford and a former long-time member of the First Congregational Church in Watertown. Mr. Decker proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was an accomplished pianist as well, and continually blessed those around him with his sense of humor and ability to make people laugh, even at the toughest times of their lives. Mr. Decker worked in the Facilities Management field for a variety of companies, including ServiceMaster, Timex, Aetna, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Meriden Wallingford Hospital and Westville Electric Company. He had a passion for writing and worked to put into words the countless blessings which God had provided throughout his life. He had two articles published in Guideposts Magazine. He founded and ran FCA Ministries through which he freely provided Biblically-based advice and answers to life?s questions to those in need, serving the Lord each day of his life. In recent years he served on the E.O. Smith High School building committee and the Mansfield committee for the physically impaired. Lloyd is survived by his wife Erma (Miller) Decker of Storrs, a son, Bruce Decker and his wife Holly of Barrington, NH, a daughter, Linda Decker of Mansfield Center, two grandsons, Stephen Decker of Barrington, NH, and Pfc. Mark Decker of Fort Lewis, Washington, several nieces and nephews, and his faithful grand-dog Rocky of Mansfield Center. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Storrs Cemetery. Please visit www.potterfh.com
