Lina Meyer Obituary
Lina Holowaty Meyer passed away on May 1st, 2024 at the age of 96 in Windham Connecticut where she lived most of her adult life. Lina was born in the small town of Stadtsteinach in Bavaria Germany where she met and married her loving husband, John Holowaty from Ukraine. They were both involved with the Ukrainian community in Willimantic until Johns’ passing in 1975.
Lina married Arthur Herman Meyer in 1981 and they spent many happy years together until his passing in 1996. Lina continued her life focusing on her grandchildren who have fond memories of many sleepovers and pancakes along with cookies from the University of Connecticut Bakery where Lina worked until her retirement.
Lina leaves behind her three children Nicholas and Roman Holowaty, Christine Holowaty Danczuk, her six grandchildren Samantha Vecchitto, Michelle and Christopher Holowaty, Delia Regan, Josef and Stefon Danczuk, her great grandchildren Madelyn Vecchitto, Mila & Griffin Regan and Emelia Danczuk.
Skilled in the art of knitting and crocheting, she found joy in creating sweaters and blankets for her family which are being passed down for future generations.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Living Center in Windham for their care of Lina at the end of her life. There are no calling hours, and a private burial will be at a later date. For the online guestbook, please visit potterfuneralhome.com.
