Leonard Johnson Obituary
Leonard Robert Johnson, 97, of Willimantic, CT passed away on January 24, 2021 at Greentree Manor in Waterford. He was born on August 20, 1923 in Willimantic to Ernest and Esther (Anderson) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson’s lifework was as a carpenter. He built many homes in the area with his father and then continued in the business with EC Johnson & Co. until his retirement. Leonard served in the US Army during WWII and was stationed in both the European and Pacific Theatre. He was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Yankee Yesteryear Car Club.
He is survived by his brother, Milton Johnson of FL; sister, Phyllis Galambos of CA; three stepsons: Alan D. Perry of Scotland, Raymond L. Perry (Sharon) of Glastonbury, and James E. Perry (Peg) of Scotland; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Eugenia “Jean” Perry Johnson; and his brothers Herbert and Walter Johnson.
