Leona Carter

Leona R. (Racine) Carter, 81, of Old Saybrook, formerly of Willimantic, died Monday Dec. 19, 2005 at Middlesex Memorial Hospital, Middletown. She was born June 21, 1924 in Willimantic the daughter of Adolph and Eva Racine. She had been employed at UConn for 13 years prior to her retirement. Leona had been active in various senior groups and as a volunteer at the Mansfield Training School. She is survived by her daughter Eva Ahern of Old Saybrook, 3 grandchildren, Holland, Austen and Dalton; a brother in law Dominic Cocilo of Waterford and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Irene Thompson, Mary Jane Niznick and Dorothy Cocilo and 2 brothers, Leo and Joe Racine. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday between 1:00 and 2:00pm with the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm.
