Lena Spector, 86, of Willimantic, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 2, 2011. She is survived by her son, Robert and his wife Kathy and her three granddaughters, Cher and her husband Brent of Boston, Carie and her husband Duane of Willimantic, and Robyn and her husband Joe of North Carolina. She is also survived by her younger sister Rose Cote as well as several nieces and nephews. Lena was born December 7, 1924 to Joe and Sonia Ruma in Willimantic, CT. She was one of seven children. On October 2, 1943, Lena married her childhood sweetheart, Stan Spector. Together, they raised their two sons, Robert and Ronnie. They moved and traveled extensively early in their marriage while Stan served in the US Navy. They settled in Willimantic in 1953 and then worked side by side at Stan's Auto Parts, their family business for many years. They retired to Florida in early 1980's, and returned to CT in 1997. Sadly, Lena was predeceased by her husband, Stan, and their youngest son, Ronnie. Lena loved and cherished her family and lived a full and active life up until the very end. She is fondly remembered for her warm smile and quiet disposition and strength of spirit. The calling hours will be from 6-8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6th at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 7th at 10 AM, to be followed by a brief graveside service in New Willimantic Cemetery.
