Lena Forand

Lena Forand, 92, of Mansfield, born December 6, 1920, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 10, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Vincenzo & Guivino (Linvitale) Mastrangelo. Lena had been a lifelong resident of Mansfield. She worked at the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation for many years caring for patients until her retirement. Lena loved spending time with her family and making homemade spaghetti sauce. She was a great Italian cook. She loved watching the Red Sox and UConn Women's Basketball. She is survived by her sons, James (Judy) Forand of Windham, Scott (Sandy) Forand of Mansfield, and her daughters Gail (Chris) Olsen of Mansfield, Elizabeth Stock (Kerry) of New Jersey. Lena was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters and her husband Walter "Smokey" and a daughter Carol Giordano. She also leaves behind five granddaughters and three great grandsons. There will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
