Leandra “Billie” (Allen) Ayer, 86, of North Windham, CT passed away peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2022. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Arthur Ayer and two children, Arthur “Skip” and Steven Ayer.
Billie was born on January 25, 1936 in Springfield, MA to the late Leander “Bill” and Olive (Wheeler) Allen. She is survived by her son Samuel; daughter Shannon and her husband Jesse Blakeslee; her granddaughter Carolyn and her husband Josh Gustafson; grandson William and great granddaughter Bailee. In addition, she is survived by her brother Gary and his wife Fran Allen and their children.
Billie, as she was known to everyone, devoted her life to being a supportive wife, a mother to her four children and then her most enjoyable role as “Gram”. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints until the last few years when it became too difficult for her to attend. Billie loved all things Christmas, her animals (often with Christmas themed names) and anything having to do with cows.
There will be no calling hours. Her memorial service will be on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 4:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. A private burial will be held in the South Chaplin Cemetery at a later date.
