Lawrence "Butchie" Allen Wadsworth

Lawrence "Butchie" Allen Wadsworth, 68, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 16, 2011 at William W. Backus Hosp. with his wife and daughters by his side. He was born in Hartford on July 18, 1942, son of the late Lawrence A. Wadsworth Sr. and Marion (Sagal) Wadsworth. He is survived by his wife Janet (Grosch) Wadsworth, two daughters, Jennifer Wadsworth and her boyfriend Kris Weeden of Willimantic and Melissa Wadsworth of Mansfield; sister in law Nancy Sawyer and her husband Paul and their sons Michael and Steven Sawyer of Ellington; nieces, Christine Wadsworth of East Hartland, Susan Baird and her family of Winsted, Joan Selleck and her family of Marlborough, Sarah Wadsworth and her family of Cromwell; a brother Allen F. Wadsworth and many cousins. Butchie spent most of his life in Mansfield. He attended the Mansfield Public School system including E.O. Smith High School. He worked for over forty years at Windham Sand and Stone / Builders Concrete as an equipment operator. He was a past president of the Pulaski American Citizens Club and a lifetime member of Willimantic Elks Lodge #1311. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday July 20th between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30am with interment following in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to American Red Cross Connecticut Chapter, Dept. 105004, P.O. Box 5003, Hartford, CT 06102-5003.
