Laura V. (Knapp) Squier, 73, a resident of North Windham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at the Windham Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in North Windham on July 13, 1931, a loving daughter of the late William and Anna (Bicknell) Knapp. She was predeceased by her husband Ned Squier Sr. after 49 years of marriage and her daughter, Katherine Feltenberger. Laura will always be remembered and truly missed by her daughter Judy Squier, with whom she resided, and three sons, Ned Squier Jr. and his wife Bonnie of North Windham, Wayne Squier and his wife Laurie of Columbia and Carl Squier of Windham. She is loved by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid Bingo player at the North Windham Fire Department. Laura was a devoted follower of Nascar and of the UConn basketball teams. She was first employed at the age of 18 at the Electro-Motive Company in Willimantic until its closing. She retired from the Rogers Corporation in South Windham after more than 20 years of dedicated service and where she was an active member of the union. Her family will receive friends for a period of visitation at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Windham Center Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 238 West Town St., Norwich, CT 06360 or the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108-3272 in Laura s honor.
