Kim Alaine Bickford passed away peacefully on September 6. She was born in Waterville, Maine on April 7, 1958, the second of four children to Raymond and Marion Bickford. Her family moved to Somers, CT in 1966. She graduated from Somers High School in 1975 with dreams of being a nurse like her grandmother.

The early parts of her career were spent in the nursing field, though she spent the better part of two decades in other fields of work. In 2002, she re-entered nursing school and worked full time while attending classes to become a Registered Nurse. Through many long nights, countless seven-day work weeks, and overnight positions, she eventually became certified and decided to return to Waterville, Maine to work as a Nurse while caring for several elderly relatives through their final years of life.

Kim’s passion was caring for people, and her greatest strength was seeing the best in people or situations, which was apparent to all who knew her at all stages in her life. Between navigating all that life threw at her, and how she often sacrificed to give to those closest to her who needed it more, her generosity of spirit will be missed.

Kim was survived by her son Michael Ashman, daughter-in-law Cara Ashman, grandkids Quinn and Oliver Ashman, brother Gregory Bickford and sister-in-law Diane Bickford, nephews Joseph Greene, Jeremy Bickford, and Brian Bickford, niece Courtney Greene, and several extended family members. She was predeceased by her brothers Peter Bickford and Timothy Bickford.

If you wish to honor Kim’s memory, donations may be made to HARC, Inc. (https://harc-ct.org/).

There are no calling hours or graveside services. A small gathering of close family will be held to share stories and celebrate Kim’s life.
