Dr. Kentwood Wells, PhD. Obituary
Dr. Kentwood D. Wells, PhD., 76, of Storrs Mansfield, CT passed away on May 23, 2024. He was born in Alexandria, VA, the son of William Willeroy and Leora D. (Wood) Wells.
Kent was a Herpetologist, Professor, and the Head of the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Connecticut for several years. His passions included biology, animal behavior and he was a member of the Magic Lantern Society. He later become the editor and publisher of the Magic Lantern Gazette. As an avid reader and antique collector, Kent was an encyclopedia of knowledge and always knew the answer to any question.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marta (Martinez) Wells, daughters Gabriela and Camila Wells, sister DanaBeth Wells-Goodwin, nephew Benjamin Wells-Goodwin, cousins, aunts, uncles, and his two cats Shadow and Midnight. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Allan Wells-Goodwin.
Kentwood’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00am until his funeral service at noon at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT 06226.
