Kenneth Tyler

Kenneth Tyler, 81, of Mansfield, died Monday Dec. 10th, 2007 at Windham Hospital. He was born April 28, 1926 in Sterling the son of Walter Tyler Sr. and Annie (Bennett) Tyler. Kenneth attended Sterling Central School and entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 serving in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1947. For nearly thirty years he had been employed by American Thread Co. in Willimantic and later worked for the Town of Mansfield. Kenneth enjoyed gardening and reading. He was a loving father and grandfather who was devoted to his family. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey Tyler, a daughter Linda LaRochelle and two brothers, Walter Tyler Jr. and Robert Tyler Sr. He is survived by four children, Terry Nielsen and her husband Thomas of Storrs, David Mitchell and his wife BillieJo of Mansfield, Phillip Mitchell and his wife Diane of Hampton and Jonathan Tyler and his wife Jean of Norwich; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a sister Doris Gagnon of Plainfield and a brother Earl Tyler of Danielson. He is also survived by his former spouse Elaine Baxter of Danielson. His family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday between 5:00 and 8:00pm. The funeral service with interment in Hillside Cemetery, Mansfield will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, 100 Warren Circle, Storrs, CT. 06268 or to American Cancer Society, 106 Rte. 32, Franklin, CT. 06254.
