Kenneth Ernest Schenck 84, of Willimantic, died peacefully at home with his wife of 64 years, Mildred (Plez) Schenck and their son and his family by his side. Ken graduated from Windham High School and then served his country as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne and then went on to serve during the Korean War as an MP in Panama. Upon his return home he worked as a dry cleaner and then worked at American Thread Co. until it closed. Ken decided that he wasn't ready to just sit at home so he went to work at Agway in Willimantic until he really did retire. Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting at the range. He was a life member of the Fin, Fur & Feather Club, The American Legion and was also a member of the Windham Fish and Game Club. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Michael K. Schenck and Diana and Nicole Garrison all of Chaplin; his granddaughter Christy Betit and her husband Brian and their 3 children of Whittingham, VT and his niece Linda Harris-Santia of Mystic. He was predeceased by his mother and father Ernest and Jessie and by his sister Joanne. We would all like to thank the hospice and nursing staff and aides from VNA East for all the wonderful help they gave in meeting Ken's wishes. Tom was his nurse and a friend and everyone we came in contact with could not have been more caring and helpful. Thank you to Ken's Sunshine for being there for him and mom when we couldn't be there. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30am in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd., Windham.
