Kay Osyf

Kay Roberta (Smith) Osyf, 58, of Coventry, formerly of Windham, passed away Sunday morning Sept. 13, 2009 after more than ten years of courageously battling ovarian cancer. The beloved daughter of Gail L. Smith and the late Harriet (Potter) Smith, Kay was born in Willimantic on May 27, 1951. Those who knew her well for her tireless eagerness to please and her endless desire and effortless ability to brighten the lives of all who she encountered, will remember her always. In addition to her father, Kay is survived by her siblings, Patricia Morin, Gail N. Smith, Linnell Smith and Mark Smith; her friend and former spouse Michael Osyf and their two children Melanie Cavanaugh and Peter Osyf; five beautiful grandchildren, Sophia Osyf, Gracie Cavanaugh, Colin Osyf, Lillian Osyf and Audrey Cavanaugh and several nieces and nephews. We love you! You will ALWAYS be in our hearts. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday Sept. 17th between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00am in Old Willimantic Cemetery, Main St. Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in the name of Kay Osyf to Hartford Hospital Fund Development, Hartford Hospital, P.O. Box 5037, Hartford, CT. 06102-5037.
