Katherine Sawyer

Katherine (Kogut) Sawyer, 93, of South Windham, widow of Stanley Sawyer Sr., died Sunday April 13, 2003 at home. She was born February 20, 1910 in Willimantic and had lived in South Windham over 60 years. She and her late husband owned and operated their family farm for most of their lives. She loved gardening, flowers and animals. She is survived by four children, Barbara Maclure of South Windham, Stanley Sawyer Jr. of South Windham, Geraldine Webster of Canaan, VT, and Elizabeth Hart of Canaan, ME, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Genevieve Gravlejs of East Hartford. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
