Kathy was born and raised in Limestone, Maine. In the early 1960’s she moved from Maine to Mansfield, Connecticut with her family where she lived for the next 50 years. Kathy was employed at Barkers Department Store in Willimantic as the drug and cosmetic department manager for 15 years until she decided to become a full-time homemaker. This was her true calling as she was a homebody and was naturally gifted with all the skills to make a house into a beautiful home. Kathy enjoyed working on home improvement projects both inside and outside. She taught herself how to do major home renovations, had an eye for landscaping and a green thumb that produced many beautiful flower gardens throughout her life. Kathy loved to decorate her home. She enjoyed yard sales, thrifting and repurposing her purchases into treasures. Kathy loved country music and was a devoted fan of George Strait, who she saw several times in concert. She was intrigued by politics and was a Charter Member of the RNC.
In 2010 as a widow, Kathy moved to Anderson, SC to enjoy the warmer climate and milder winters. In 2023 she moved back to Connecticut to be with her family when her health issues started to surface.
Most importantly Kathy was a loving, dedicated and supportive mother. Being raised in a large family and raising six children of her own made her a strong, independent, and resourceful women who was hard working and provided well for her family. She instilled her independence, strong will and work ethic in her children. The hardships and challenges Kathy faced in her life were always met with strength, resilience, and hope. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh right up until the time of her passing. Kathy’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be fondly remembered and forever loved.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Woodlake at Tolland and Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut for the love they shared with their mother and the attentive care they provided her. There was no greater gift to them than their peace of mind knowing their mother was in such good caring hands.
A private graveside service will be held at New Mansfield Center Cemetery.
