Katherine J. Hawkins

Katherine Josephine Hawkins, 94, of Mansfield, widow of Harold C. Hawkins Jr., died Tuesday July 27, 2004 at St. Joseph Living Center in Windham. She was born October 30, 1909 in Norwich, the daughter of Martin and Veronica (Schaffhauser) Wenzel and had lived in Mansfield most of her life. She is survived by 3 daughters, Carol Morgan of Mansfield Center, Judith Maines-Lamarre, formerly of Woodstock, CT and Birch Harbor, ME, now of Tuba City, AZ, Patricia Maines and her husband Allan of Storrs. She was predeceased by a daughter, Anne Walker. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Teri Atwood and Scott Walker; Kristen Hoyle, Michael Maines, Bethany Klafter and Andrew Maines; Kevin, Todd and Matthew Maines; Brian and Shawn Morgan; 12 great grandchildren, Benjamin Atwood, Courtney and Colby Walker, Sarah, Emma Katherine, Anna and Ethan Hoyle, William Maines, Kiana Klafter, Anjelique Maines, Grace Katherine Maines, Rory Blake-Morgan, Joseph, Megan and Nicholas Morgan and a sister, Agnes Christensen of Norwich. She was predeceased by her siblings, Veronica W. Sullivan, Michael Wenzel, Joseph Wenzel and Mary W. Tyler. She is also survived by many devoted members of her husband?s family, nieces, nephews and many special friends at St. Joseph Living Center where she made her home for the past 8 years. She lived over 70 years in Mansfield Center where she lovingly cared for her family and gardens. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel, 46 North Eagleville Rd. Storrs. Burial will follow in Mansfield Center Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Living Center Resident Animal Fund or Courtyard Garden Fund, 14 Club Rd. Windham, CT 06280.
