Kate Buck Card, 84, of Columbia, widow of Jack Card Sr., died Saturday, November 02, 2002 in Marlborough. She was born September 19, 1918 in Worcester, MA, the daughter of the late Edwin and Mabelle (Oakes) Buck and had lived most of her adult life in Columbia where she was an active member of the Columbia Congregational Church. She was a hairdresser, a den mother, Girl Scout leader and active in the swimming program of the Columbia Recreation Council when her children were young. She and Jack enjoyed their retirement home in Jamestown, Rhode Island for a number of years. Mrs. Card was very family oriented and a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She is survived by a daughter, Sara Card of Columbia, a granddaughter Suzanne Wolmer of Columbia, a great granddaughter, Sara Minor also of Columbia, 2 sisters, Sally Alapi of Ashford, Barbara Warren of Storrs, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a son, John Card Jr. and 2 sisters, Jane Quimby and Priscilla Whitehouse. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Burial will be private. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation, Development Dept., Lois Hefferman or Julian Pearson, 1501 N.
