Karl Hanka Obituary
Following a short illness, our father/grandfather, Karl M.Hanka,75, beloved husband of the late June Baker, passed away on February 4, 2022. Born December 14, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN, he was the eldest son of Elizabeth (Walsh) and Arnold Hanka.

Karl grew up in Mansfield, attending local schools and graduating from E.O.Smith high school in 1965. Following graduation he worked in banking until his retirement.

He is survived by his children, Erik Hanka (Ingrid) of Mansfield and grandsons Scott and Noah; Laira Hanka Rehbein (Mat) of Vernon and granddaughters Brielle and Addyson. His brothers, Harold (Carol) of Stonington and Robert of Minnesota. Stepdaughters Lisa Rose (Bill) of Chaplin and Lynn Zuffrey (Daniel) of North Carolina. Niece and nephews Ashley, Shawn and Jon Hanka. His brother from another mother and closest friend, Dr. Orland Donald and wife, Kim, who were always there for Karl when needed. Former wife, Ligita Giacopassi, with whom he remained close friends. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, George; and the love of his life, June Baker.

His family will receive friends and relatives Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic, for a memorial service at 2:00pm followed by calling hours from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111.
