June E. Wood, 68, of Scotland, wife of the late Guy Wood, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Windham Hospital after a short illness. She was born May 3, 1941 in Manchester, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel (Schwartz) Green and had lived in Scotland since 1968. June had been employed for 27 years at the former Mansfield State Training School. She was a member of and competed successfully in NEPOBA, the New England Pony Owner and Breeders Association and NEPtHA, the New England Pinto Horse Association. She was also a member of the American Shetland Pony Club and the CT Driving Club. June bred the National Champion Jr. Roadster Pony for the ASPC. June also raised and bred West Highland Terriers. She enjoyed many hobbies and crafts, especially photography and scrapbooking. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Andy McDonald of Chaplin, Karen and Peter Hodina of Lebanon, Lynn and Matthew Ford of East Putnam, a brother and his wife, Paul and Edith Green of Windham Center, seven grandchildren, David Wood, Adam Wood, Laura Williams, Virginia Williams, Alyssa Hodina, Karolyn Card and Koralee Ford, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Daniel Green. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service and burial in Scotland Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
