Julio Sanchez

Julio Manuel Sanchez, Sr., 67, of Willimantic, CT, died on Monday, April 20, 2015, after succumbing to Alzheimer's at home surrounded by his family. Julio retired from Rogers Corporation and applied himself in other fields of work during his life. When he moved to Willimantic from Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, Julio immediately became involved with youth and adult baseball/softball leagues. He demonstrated his love of baseball and the community for nearly 50 years, and consistently demonstrated civic responsibility and leadership. He loved playing baseball and watching Red Sox games. He took great joy in spending time with his family and friends, and playing dominoes. Julio is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nereida, his sons Julio Manuel Sanchez, Jr., Juan Antonio Sanchez and Julio Enriquez Sanchez, daughters Sandra Sanchez-Cruz and Wanda Cruz Sanchez, and many loving brothers, sisters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
