Julia Sophia (Pekarovic) Copeland, 97, of Douglas Manor in Windham, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011. She was born February 14, 1914 the daughter of Stephan and Rose (Pichler) Pekarovic and grew up in Lebanon. She was married to the late Robert Copeland with whom she had a daughter, Mary, who passed away at the age of two. Prior to her retirement she was employed for over thirty years at the American Thread Company in Willimantic. Before moving to Douglas Manor, Julia lived in Willington next to her good friends, Patty and Joanie Connell until the age of 92. She appreciated the loving care that she received from the nurses and staff at Douglas Manor. She is the last survivor of five brothers and four sisters. She leaves behind a sister-in-law, Mary Pekarovic, several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her nephew Wayne and his wife Phyllis and all the friends she made throughout her life. Her family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic prior to the 11:00 a.m. celebration of her Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church in Willimantic.
