Juan Gutierrez-Vega

Juan Gutierrez-Vega, 79, of Willimantic, husband of Benci (Garcia) Gutierrez, died Tuesday morning Sept. 23, 2008 at Windham Hospital. Born in Puerto Rico, he was the son of Pedro Gutierrez and Paula Vega. Juan was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He had been employed by Brand-Rex for twenty six years prior to retirement. Juan was a very dedicated husband, father and grandfather and was always known to help people in the community. He was predeceased by two children, Juan and Pedro Gutierrez. In addition to his wife, he is survived by ten children, Hector of Willimantic, Iris of Bronx, NY, Emile of NJ, Juan Jr. of VA, Olga of FL, Paulina , Alba Dawson and Lenor all of Willimantic, Gladys Alvarez of N. Windham and Doris Aponte of Willimantic. He is also survived by several brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. His family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday Sept. 26th between 6:00 and 8:00pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday Sept. 27th at 10:00am at Iglesia Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, Club Rd., Windham. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd. Windham.
