Joyce Henderson Brown Tremblay, 90, of Mansfield, CT, passed away after a long battle with dementia on February 27th, 2025. Joyce was born on July 27, 1934, in Oneco, CT, at the Sunshine Maternity Home. She was the daughter of James and Ada (Henderson) Brown. She shared a wonderful childhood with her beloved twin brother Jim Brown, sister Jean Joyal, and brother George Brown (deceased).
When she was only 15 years old, she met the love of her life, Kenneth, to whom she was married for 72 years. Together, they were loving, devoted parents who nurtured and took pride in their four children: Kenneth (deceased), Keith, Karen Perlstein (Mitch), and Kate Baber (Dave).
Joyce graduated from Plainfield High School, Alaska Business College, and earned an associate's degree at Eastern Connecticut State College. Joyce's life, grounded by family, endured Kenneth's deployment to Vietnam and their 21 years of Army life traveling around the world in support of the patriotic ideals they both held dear. No matter where in the world Ken was stationed and no matter how difficult the circumstances, Joyce was able to create a loving home for her family and forged lifetime friendships. When Kenneth retired, they returned home to Connecticut to be near family. Joyce was adored by her nine grandchildren: Tamara Multanen (Jay), Matthew Baber (Milena), Kenneth Tremblay III (Brandy), Kyle Tremblay, Craig Tremblay, Scott Baber (Nikki), Emma Perlstein, Lauren Perlstein, and Bess Perlstein; and six great-grandchildren: Noah Baber, Lucie and Leo Multanen, Kenneth Tremblay IV, and Kati and Nico Baber. Their faces still brought a smile to her face even when her memory faded. Joyce loved her friends (especially her dear lifelong friend, Anne Buteau Potvin), the beach, her Scottish heritage, reading, cross stitch, a good joke, and the UCONN Huskies. During basketball season, she spoke about the players as though they were part of the family. Her generous spirit, love of laughter, and devotion will remain with us forever.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 7th from 11 a.m. till Noon at Potter Funeral Home, located at 456 Jackson Ave, Willimantic CT. To leave an online condolence please visit
