Joyce (Smith) Crepeau, 46, of Storrs, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, April 11, 2011. Born in Willimantic, Joyce was the beloved wife of John Crepeau. Joyce grew up in Columbia, CT, graduated from Windham High School class of 82, Eastern Connecticut State College in 91 and Grad School at the University of CT in 93. Joyce was the owner-operator of "A Cut Above" hair salon in Storrs. Joyce served as PTO President at Goodwin Elementary School and recently received a "Volunteer Recognition Award" from the Connecticut Association of Schools for her dedicated service to children. Joyce loved gardening, going for walks with friends as well as hiking and snowmobiling in New Hampshire. On 4/9/11 Joyce wrote something on Facebook that many will remember. She wrote: "What a beautiful day it was today! Worked outside in the garden, went for a walk with a friend and enjoyed good conversation. Then my favorite thing in the world to do... we ate dinner outside on the deck. I am one happy camper! Enjoy! I just loved today and hope all of you did too". In addition to her husband, Joyce leaves two children, Colleen and Austin and a step son Andre, her parents Milo and Doris Smith, a brother Gary Smith and his wife Tina Odannel and nephews Ryan, Nick and Broc Smith. Calling hours will be on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St (Rte 195), Willimantic, CT and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 10 A.M. at the Mansfield Center Cemetery, Cemetery Rd, Mansfield, CT.
