Josephine Koval, 101, of Columbia, CT passed away on November 18, 2022. She was born in Willimantic, CT, the daughter of the late Michele and Virginia (Oliva) Mazzola.
She was a National Honor Student and a graduate of Windham High School. Josephine enjoyed knitting, playing canasta, politics, rescue dogs, and Sees Chocolates
Josephine is survived by her children Gary Koval and Joanne Oliver and her significant other Gustavo Sanchez; six grandchildren Deena Balogh, Stephanie Balogh, John Balogh IV, Andrew Oliver-Rudis, Amanda Splendoreo, Paula Heinzmann, Diana Shain, and Ray Legary; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and housemates MaryAnn Duval and Dominique Duval Johnson.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Koval; brothers Henry and Mike Mazzola; and sisters Mary Mazzola, Ann Albro, and Rose Lehndorff.
There are no calling hours. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 9:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic.
