Josephine L. Bortolan

Josephine L. (Seretny) Bortolan, 96, of Willimantic, widow of Judge Napoleon Bortolan, died Monday Feb. 13, 2006 at St. Joseph Living Center, Windham. She was born March 15, 1909 in Willimantic the daughter of Konstantine and Stefania ( Ciesla) Seretny. For many years, she worked with her late husband in the operation of Family Finance on Main St. in Willimantic. Josephine had been active in supporting her husband in his political career. She was also active in the Mansfield Garden Club, Princess Yolanda Lodge and in the Windham Hospital Auxiliary. She fondly remembered going door to door soliciting funds to build Windham Hospital. She is survived by a son Peter Bortolan and his wife Ruth of S. Windsor, a daughter Nancy Olender and her husband Fred of Somers, a sister Philomena Gill of Wethersfield, 5 granddaughters, Cindy Edwards and her husband Mark of Westford, MA., Eleanor Bortolan of S. Windsor, Andrea Bortolan of Manchester, Cathy Buckley and her husband Thomas of Hyattsville, MD., and Joan Olender of Kirkland, WA.; and 4 great grandsons, Stephen Edwards, Peter Edwards, Thomas Buckley and Timothy Bortolan. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Thursday between 4:30 and 7:30pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. (Rte.195) Willimantic with assembly at the church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
