Joseph F. Tubridy, 95, beloved husband of Dorothy (Flynn) Tubridy, of Willimantic, died Friday, October 12, 2001 at St. Joseph Living Center. Joseph was born in Providence, RI on March 28, 1906, son of the late Lillie (Hearty) and Michael Tubridy and lived in Willimantic for most of his life. Joseph was a graduate of St. John Prep, Danvers, MA, and Fordham University in NYC. after graduating he joined Macy s Department Store in NYC. In 1937 he entered the family business, Tubridy s Inc., and remained active in the business for over fifty-two years. He will be remembered as a devoted, loving husband and father, a compassionate employer, a friend to his customers and community and his absolute commitment to the impossible game of golf. Joseph s community involvement included being a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church, past President of the Windham Community Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, a member of the Willimantic Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club (recipient Paul Harris lifetime award), a founding member of the Pautipaug Country Club, honorary member of the State Seniors Golf Association and numerous other organizations. Besides his wife Dorothy of sixty-two years he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Bruce Blosat of Atlanta, GA, his daughter Karen Tubridy of NYC, a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Betsy Tubridy of Mansfield. He leaves six grandchildren, Mark Solan of NYC, Tracy Solan of San Francisco, Sean Tubridy and Erin Tubridy of Boston, and Michael and Connor Tubridy of Mansfield. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Jackson St. Willimantic followed by committal prayers at St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. Friends may call on Monday evening at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph s memory to the Windham Community Memorial Hospital, 112 Mansfield Ave. Willimantic, CT 06226 or to the Renovation Fund of St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimatic, CT 06226.
