Joseph Tangari Obituary
Joseph Tangari, age 91, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, December 21, 2020, at home in Willington, CT. He was born February 2, 1929, one of three children to the late Frank and Victoria Tangari of Norwich, CT.
Joe worked as purchaser for the State of CT at the UCONN Health Center, Farmington and the Storrs UCONN Campus. Joe truly lived life to the fullest, traveling with his wife Eva to Europe and taking several river and ocean cruises. They had many happy years at their home in Lakeland, FL. Joe enjoyed music of all kinds, self-taught, he played both guitar and mandolin. He took great joy from and giving love to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Joe was a WWII veteran with the Army occupation forces in Japan and later with the Connecticut National Guard at the Nike Missile Site in Portland.
Joe was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Eva Tangari, and his sisters Anna and Louise. He is survived by his children Judy Murphy and her husband Douglas, Lawrence Tangari and his wife Helen, Joseph F. Tangari and his wife MaryAnn, Paula Beebe, Richard Tangari and his wife Susan, and his sister-in-law Claire LaVallee of Lakeland, FL.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Douglas Murphy Jr, Steven Murphy Sr, Jonathan Murphy, Lawrence Tangari Jr, Matthew Tangari, Adam Tangari, Joseph M Tangari, Daniel J Tangari, Jason Beebe, Jeremy Beebe, Brian Beebe, Laura Callahan, Sarah Holewa, Ricky Palmer, Jason Flaherty. His great grandchildren: Douglas Murphy III, Kaitlyn Murphy, Steven Murphy Jr, Ryan Murphy, Taylor Tangari, Tony Lyon, Teddy Say, Samuel Tangari, Rosalyn Tangari, Francesca Tangari, Katelyn Callahan, Emily Callahan, Eli Beebe, Lily Holewa, Sean Flaherty, Megan Flaherty, Ashlynn Tournas, and his great great grandchildren: Ava Lyon, Zaylin Magistri, Madison Murphy, Steven Murphy III, Natalia Murphy, Antonio Murphy.
Calling hour will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 10:00-11:00am at Potter Funeral Home with a Memorial Service with Military Honors to follow at 11:00am. Burial will take place immediately after at the New Willimantic Cemetery.
