Joseph W. Pepin, 81, of Columbia, beloved husband of Barbara (Dosh) Pepin, passed away on Saturday, August 8 at Windham Hospital, with his family by his side. Born in Willimantic, he was the son of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Martin) Pepin. Joe served in the Korean War after high school, and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1957 with a degree in accounting. He retired from the State of Connecticut as an analyst in 1997. During his 46 years living in Columbia, Joe was very involved in town politics and was an active member of the Columbia Senior Center. He loved life and spending time with his family and friends. He was a lifelong fan of UConn sports. Joe was a profound animal lover, and adored his pets Mindy, Brandy, and Tika. In addition to his wife of 53 years, he leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Karen Pepin of Meriden, a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bob Hopson of Hebron, and a son, Jeffrey of Coventry. He also leaves four grandchildren, Tyler and Chelsea Hopson and Kristen and Carli Pepin. We will all miss him very much. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Thursday, August 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of The Holy Family, Rte. 85, Hebron, with assembly at the church.
