Joseph “Roger” Ouellet, 87, passed away peacefully on June 30th, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born to the late William and Germaine Ouellet in Willimantic and grew up in Chaplin. Forever a family man, always the entrepreneur he transformed a piggery into a successful trash and recycling company, Ouellet’s Refuse, for several decades.  He took great joy in entertaining family and friends at Crystal Pond for over 50 years and never met a stranger in his life.  In his later years, he was an avid reader and cherished traveling the world extensively with his wife Bonnie Card. He was a lifetime member of the Fin Fur Feather Club, a lifetime member of the Elk’s Club and a member of the French Club.  He was a lifelong fan of the Yankees and UCONN women’s basketball.  He is predeceased by his first wife Janet Ouellet, his brother Robert Ouellet, his daughter-in-law Teresa Ouellet and his granddaughter Melissa Miller. Roger is survived by his wife Bonnie Card, his son David Ouellet and his wife Susan, his daughter Jane Prouty and her husband David, his son Jim Ouellet and his son Johnny Ouellet and his fiancé Sarah, his stepson’s Bill Card Jr. and family, Scott Card and his wife Jill, Jason Card and his wife Laurie and his grandchildren Josh Ouellet, Zacchary Ouellet and his fiancé Nicki, Trevor Ouellet, Emily Ouellet-Rios and her husband Ruben, Dylan Ouellet and Carly Ouellet and his step-grandchildren Zachary and Delaney Card, and Alex and Gracie Card. Roger’s services will be at the convenience of his family. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to the American Cancer Society (Cancer.org)
