Joseph Stanley Deptula of Windham Center, husband of Dorothy (Rohan) Deptula, died Wednesday Jan. 13, 2010 in Windham at the age of 81. He was born on Oct. 27, 1928 in Norwich the son of Joseph and Stella (Krzesicki) Deptula. In addition to his wife of 54 years Dorothy, he is survived by daughter Lori A. Deptula of Windham Ctr. and his beloved grandson Cody Joseph Desilets of Windham who he loved very much and was very proud of. Also surviving is a brother Raymond and his wife Kathleen, a sister Patricia Belinski and her husband Edward and many nieces and nephews. Joe spent four years in Germany as a corporal in the U.S. Army with the military police. He had been employed by U.S. Finishing in Norwich and then for 28 years as a foreman by Jones and Laughlin Steel in Willimantic. He was a lifetime member of Windham Center Volunteer Fire Dept. Joe spent his retirement building lawn furniture and growing vegetables and pumpkins. His family would like to thank Dr. Mark Dailey and Melissa O'Neill from the Oncology Dept. at Windham Hospital, VNA East of Mansfield and the staff at Douglas Manor for their compassionate care of Joe. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday Jan. 19th at 1:00pm in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd., Windham.
