Joseph A. Chalifoux

Joseph A. Chalifoux, 85, was born in Willimantic, CT on July 19, 1924. He passed away in the Saint Joseph's Living Center in Willimantic on August 13, 2009. His family moved to Thorndike, MA and lived there until 1940. His family then moved back to Willimantic, where he spent the rest of his life. In 1942, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and served in the infantry in the Philippines for four years. When he returned to Willimantic, he was an apprentice and then became a glazier. He formed his own company, Ace Glass and Paint Company, and retired in 1986. He spent the rest of his life with his family and friends. He spent his summers on the Cape fishing, and in the winters, he would vacation on St. Pete Beach in Florida. He was the son of the late Ovilia and Clara Chalifoux. He was predeceased by his brother Roland, and his sister, Ora Franklin. He is survived by his sister, Doris Charron of Columbia, CT. He is predeceased by his first wife Doris (Berube) Chalifoux and second wife Olga (Dzwonszyk) Sokolowski Chalifoux. He is survived by his daughter Michele Nahas of Windham, CT and two granddaughters, Melissa Nahas of Northampton, MA and Jessica Nahas of Windham, CT. He leaves three nephews: Richard Charron, Joseph Charron, and Michael Franklin, and several cousins. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic on Saturday, August 15 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the procession to his Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary Church, Willimantic. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
