Jorge Aponte Ayala Obituary
Jorge Aponte Ayala, 74, of Brooklyn, CT formerly Willimantic, CT sadly passed away on February 13, 2024, after an illness. Jorge was born and raised in Comerío, Puerto Rico. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After 4 years in the Army, he studied to be a teacher at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Jorge worked for the State of CT as a group home coordinator at the Mansfield Training School for 30 years. After his retirement he also spent many years working at F&J Package Store. He was an avid NY Yankee and Giants fan. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jorge is predeceased by his parents Jose Aponte Gonzales and Cortilde Ayala Cruz, as well as his two sisters Iris V. Aponte and Evelyn Aponte. He is survived by his wife Brunilda Aponte (Silva), son Raul Agosto, Jorge Joel Aponte, Taina Aponte, his grandchildren, Cristina Aponte, Jorge Agosto, Gavin Delrosario, Bianca Aponte, and Raul Antonio Agosto, his sisters, Sylvia Aponte, Blanca E. Aponte, and Helen Aponte and his brothers Jose J. Aponte, Hector M. Aponte, and Jose A. “Papo” Aponte.
Jorge’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10:00am until his Funeral Mass at 12:00pm at Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Church, 61 Club Rd. Windham, CT. His burial will be private.
