Johnny B. Wilson, 58, of Willimantic, CT., departed this life on Dec. 9, 2008 at 6:01pm at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. Johnny had been employed at Cedarcrest Hospital (Blue Hills Drug &Alcohol Rehabilitation) in Hartford as a Mental Health Assistant 2. He attended TI Weston High School in Greenville, Mississippi and also attended Jackson University in Jackson, MS. for three years. Johnny was predeceased by his loving mother Malinda Wilson, his father Joe Wilson Sr., a brother Gene Wilson and a sister Maryanna Wilson. He leaves to mourn, his wife Barbara Billups of Norwich, CT., his daughter Chantelle Smith of Chicago, IL., a stepson Glenn Billups of Virginia Beach, VA., a stepdaughter Tara Billups of Norwich, five grandchildren, a great grandchild and three Godchildren. Johnny also leaves an aunt Rose Ellen Johnson of Greenville, MS., six brothers, Leroy Mitchell of Long Beach, CA., Byron Wilson of Norwich, Charles Wilson of Newington, CT., Joe Wilson Jr. and William Wilson both of Willimantic and Ricky Wilson of Hartford; four sisters, Mattie Simon of New Orleans, LA., Dorothy Hollins of Chicago, IL., Josephine Price and Irvin Willox both of Willimantic along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnny was a past member of St. Peter Missionary Baptist during his youth in Greenville. After relocating to Connecticut, Johnny attended a church in Manchester and later joined Calvary Baptist Church in Willimantic joining the Usher Board and serving with joy being a doorkeeper in God's house. Johnny also attended Bible Study when ever possible. His family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church, 412 Valley St. Willimantic on Wednesday from 11:00am to 12:00pm with services beginning at 12:00pm.
