John A. Segar, 81, of Windham, husband of Teotis (Bombria) Segar, died Thursday February 24, 2005 in Windham. He was born February 10, 1924 in Hebron, the son of Charles and Christine (Philips) Segar and had lived in Scotland and Windham most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre, a life member and former officer of Elks Lodge #1311in Willimantic. Prior to his retirement Mr. Segar was employed for many years at the University of Connecticut. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Barbara Segar of Willimantic, James and Tona Segar of South Carolina, Thomas and Julie Segar of Windham, a sister, Ethel Bradley of Branford, 2 brothers, Earl Segar and Raymond Segar, both of Windham, 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Christopher of Wolcott, Jessica Segar of Canterbury, Holly Segar of Windham and Jonathan Segar of Windham, 3 step grandchildren, Dennis Barstow of Scotland, Lisa Rich of Willimantic and Coty Conn of South Carolina, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Segar. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Windham Center Cemetery.
