John P. Piontek, 78, of Mansfield, husband of Anne M. (Giraca) Piontek, died Thursday Oct. 2, 2008 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born Aug. 12, 1930 in Mansfield the son of the late Joseph and Bridget Piontek. John was a graduate of Windham High School. He went on to be employed locally by American Thread Co., LTV Steel for twenty seven years and then at Windham Hospital for over ten years. He was a life member of the Pulaski American Citizens Club and the Moose. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Samantha L.K. Piontek of Mansfield, a step daughter Bonnie Henderson of Willimantic, a brother Walter of Mansfield, two grandchildren, David M. White of Mansfield and Shaun C. Loree of FL; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Helen, Mary, Sophie and Frank. His family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Saturday beginning at 9:30am until the funeral service at 10:30am at the funeral home.
