John W. Moran

John (Jack) W. Moran passed away from natural causes on April 16, 2025. Born on February 5, 1933, in Willimantic, CT to Louis and Mary Moran.
Jack graduated from Windham High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955 at the rank of Airman First Class.
Jack worked in the IT department at the American Thread Co. until its closing. He then roamed the country for a while until he returned to Connecticut to work as a rural postal carrier for many years.
Jack was married to the love of his life Andrea Smith in 1995. She pre-deceased him in 2021. They had many happy years together with their Boston Terrier “Girls” who quickly became the “spoiled kids” Jack had been missing.
Jack leaves his niece Martha Funderburk of South Windham, and Andrea’s children Styles Colburn of Willimantic, Jill LeMasurier of Andover, Tyler Colburn of Willimantic, Linsay Ouimette of Waynesboro, VA and Shannon Colburn of South Windham.
Our family would like to thank the caregivers at Buckingham Heights in Glastonbury for their excellent care for Jack. We would also like to thank Vitas Healthcare for their hospice care in the final weeks of Jack’s life.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on May 8th at 2:00 PM at the Pink Ravine Cemetery located on Bonemill Road in Storrs.
